The BMW Motorrad Definition CE 04 concept shows the future of the German premium manufacturer’s two-wheeler. Electric traction, pioneering off-screen and off-screen design and innovative connectivity solutions are its three main features. The design introduces a new concept of urban aesthetics. “We have succeeded in transferring many innovative elements and details of the concept into the upcoming production model. The electric drive has allowed us to create a highly distinctive design that clearly differs from conventional style. A design that follows the basic requirements for simple functionality, clear aesthetics and the digital reality in which today’s users live,” says Alexander Buckan, Head of Vehicle Design BMW Motorrad.
The elongated, low body and diagonally rising front create a clear, modern silhouette, while the calm style of the surfaces with their clearly defined edges blends perfectly with a modern urban environment. The battery is flat in shape and is located in the underbody, while there is also room to store the helmet and other necessary equipment. The battery’s low position provides a favourable centre of gravity, which guarantees good handling and driving fun.
Defined lines, generous surfaces and distinctive design underline the modern proportions. The design of the lights is essential and dynamic. The U-shaped LED front headlamps are characterised by a minimalist style, while their clear layout with subtle contours accentuates the avant-garde visual appeal of the front section. The rear lights have been integrated into the rear side panels in the form of two C-shaped light elements.
In terms of both design and digital use, CE 04 always focuses on practical and easy-to-use solutions. BMW Motorrad sees great potential in the interaction between vehicles and technical clothing in terms of safety, comfort and emotional experience. The driver is connected to his or her digital environment via his or her smartphone, while all instrument information is transmitted via a 10.25″ display, the largest in the scooter segment to date. At the same time as the scooter, the manufacturer has also developed some items of clothing dedicated to the model and with innovative features such as luminous inserts integrated in the sleeves and hood that guarantee greater visibility in road traffic and can be switched on.
