Smart presents the #1, the first electric SUV in the history of the Daimler and Geely manufacturer. The car differs completely from what has been realized so far by the smart brand and offers a completely new design, in line with what was shown by the #1 concept unveiled in 2021 at the Munich Motor Show. Just like the values embodied by the brand itself, the design of the new compact SUV is designed to foster an individual experience with the car.

The exterior design is innovative and cutting-edge, thanks to elements such as retractable handles, frameless doors and a glass panorama roof that is absolutely unique for a car in this segment. The ratio between usable area and dimensions is optimized to the maximum: the new smart #1 has a length of 4,270 mm, a wheelbase of 2,750 mm and wheels of the important dimensions, up to 19 inches and offers a generous interior space for all occupants0 with a 360-degree view thanks to the large glass surfaces.

“The smart #1 is the first model to unveil smart’s new design DNA in a very cool, yet mature way. I am very proud of the product which perfectly reflects the joint efforts of our European and Chinese designers. As a team, we were able to translate our conceptual idea into the production car we are presenting today. With the smart #1 we open a new chapter in positioning smart as a leading design brand,” Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Mercedes-Benz AG.

With a virtual environment created in a dedicated app and a customizable infotainment user interface, the compact SUV uses focused, human-centric technology to connect people, places and experiences, both virtually and in real life. The new smart will feature an avatar present in the user interface, based on artificial intelligence and controlled through voice commands.
