Volkswagen presented in Hamburg the prototype ID. 2all, the first preview of a B-segment electric city car (about 4 metres long) that will arrive in 2025 with a price tag of under 25,000 euros. Based on the MEB platform in the more compact ‘Entry’ version, the ID. 2 all has a 166 kW electric motor and a claimed range of 450 kilometres. “The ID. 2all offers a preview of the new Volkswagen design that rests on three pillars: stability, sympathy and enthusiasm,” said Andreas Mindt, head of design at the German brand since last February.

A visible element of this new design is the rear pillar silhouette designed for the first Golf. The ID. 2all is the first Volkswagen car to feature this reinterpreted distinctive element. Other design details of the prototype include a body that rests firmly on the wheels, an attractive front end with a touch of dynamism and elegance.

The interior features a well-defined design with quality aesthetics, an intuitive infotainment system with traditional volume control, and a separate climate control panel. The load capacity of 490 to 1,330 litres offers more cargo space than you would find in a car in a higher segment. The standard version of the ID. 2all will be part of ten new electric models that the German brand will bring to market by 2026. This year will see the launch of the restyled ID.3, the ID. Buzz long-wheelbase and the ID.7 sedan. This will be followed in 2026 by a compact SUV and an even smaller citycar than the ID. 2 all that will cost less than 20,000 euros.
