The new Ford F-150 2021 is available with a wide range of accessories, but thanks to a collaboration between the American manufacturer and video game producer Psyonix, there is a new digital-only version equipped with a special rocket booster. The pickup, which has been the best-selling vehicle in the US for more than four decades, will be featured in the popular video game Rocket League where you can play football with the vehicles. The Ford F-150 Rocket League Edition will be available for purchase for the video game from 20 to 28 February. Ford is the first automaker to work with Psyonix. The F-150 that appears on the screen is the MY 2021, with the distinctive C-shaped headlight design, rounded wheel arches and “F-150” lettering on the tailgate.

“The F-150 is already the most popular pickup truck in the real world, and this F-150 Rocket League Edition is set to become the most popular truck in the video game world as well,” says Ehab Kaoud, head of design for Ford vans and pickups. The project follows what the American manufacturer has done with Team Fordzilla, the group of designers, engineers and gamers who created the P1 race car for the Forza Motorsport video game. According to the Entertainment Software Association, a trade association for the gaming industry, more than 214 million Americans play video games and three-quarters of all US households have at least one gamer in the home. The Rocket League Championship Series Winter Majors Driven by Ford continues every weekend in February and can be seen on both Rocket League’s Twitch and YouTube channels. The new Ford F-150 is built at the Ford Truck Plant in Dearborn, Michigan, and the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri.
