The Volkswagen Polo variant bearing the legendary GTI badge is the pinnacle of the Polo segment in terms of power, technology and sportiness. 207 hp from a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a sporty chassis make this car a nippy five-door that, for the first time in the model’s history, also allows partially automated driving.
The iconic design of the compact sports car by the Volkswagen style centre headed by Jozef Kabaň, revised both aesthetically and technically, is marked by the legendary GTI characteristic elements: the red lines on the radiator grille, the honeycomb structure of the air intake and the top-of-the-range sports seats with the characteristic Clark checker pattern on the centre stripes. The car comes standard with the new Matrix IQ.Light LED headlights and an illuminated transverse element in the grille that characteristically integrates the daytime running lights. In terms of styling, this is reminiscent of Volkswagen’s ID. battery electric models and the new Golf and Tiguan generations.
The most striking new feature at the rear of the new Polo GTI are the LED rear light clusters which, as a result of completely new design work, now reach far into the centre of the tailgate and feature animated brake lights. The interior of a Volkswagen GTI is as distinctive and unmistakable as its exterior. Elegant and expressive, but never excessive. The new Polo GTI is a prime example. Black, red, grey and chrome are the dominant interior colours.
The roof pillars and headlining are always in the typical Titanschwarz trim colour. Contrasting red stitching is also always one of the distinctive GTI features. These embellish the leather-wrapped multifunctional sports steering wheel as standard, the gearstick lever cover and the outer surfaces of the seats. The top-of-the-range sports seats offer multiple adjustment options and ergonomically adapt to the build of almost any driver. The centre bands of the seats are covered with the legendary Clark check pattern (stripes in dark grey, light grey and red, black checks).
